We, as a nation, are facing a once-in-a-century healthcare crisis with the COVID-19 pandemic. The American textile industry and its 585,000 workers have been the driving force behind the rapid mobilization to convert production lines and materials to supply personal protective equipment (PPE) as part of a national effort to stop the spread of COVID-19.
Our textile workforce is up to the challenge but we need support from Congress to create a sustainable and long-term domestic manufacturing base for PPE.
