Our company was founded in 1972 by Lacy C. Nance to produce fine gauge interlock and single knit fabrics. In 1984 we purchased 40% of the company through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). The company grew to a 120 machine installation by 1986 and operated strictly as commission knitters. In 1988 we became 100% ESOP. Today Contempora Fabrics operates 175 machines in a 150,000 square foot facility on 29 acres and is known for a versatile product mix and capacity to manufacture 2 million pounds of fabric each month. Contempora has a large impact on the community of Lumberton, NC and supports local charities and employs school youth during their summer break. Our success is a direct result of hard work and dedication of our employees— our greatest asset.
Today, Contempora Fabrics is an established manufacturer of all type of circular knits.
